Working with global teams can be challenging, but can offer great perspective. Rexnord’s Valve and Gate division is headquartered in Germany. The North American team, was poised with the challenge to tranform three core brands: Rodney Hunt, Fontaine and GA Industries. During a time of high stakes organizational transformation and budget constraints, initiatives such as rebranding can become a mine field, and cost and resource efficiency are critical. Above, elements of the rebrand can be seen as they debuted at WEFTEC, an industry-leading show.

The line developed an extended warranty program, intended to cultivate a solid installation base, while fostering positive sentiments amongst users. The program served as the first of its kind in the expansion tank market.

Corporate Representative, Industry Development: National Decontamination Standard for Shower Units, Washington D.C.

The International Safety Equipment Association sent out a call for manufacturer representatives to serve in Washington D.C. on the committee charged to develop the nation’s first American National Standard (ANSI) for Fixed and Portable Decontamination Shower Units. I represented my respective employer, and served on their behalf to ensure standards developed served the best interests of the end user and my constituents.

Run4Water Milwaukee – Sponsorship & Endorsement

End consumer brand building opportunities can be tricky for a traditional B2B manufacturer, and expensive – so, when opportunities can be identified and supported it’s a win for the community and for the manufacturer. A former employer focused on ‘Winning Right’ – as an attitude, and a day-to-day sentiment in decision making. Part of that mantra included offering 2% pre-tax profits to non-profits. Engineers without Borders, the UWM Chapter provided just such an opportunity to align education, young talent, and future specifiers with hands-on experience via funding and in-kind product donations.

A national student hackathon sponsorship opportunity presented itself for a very low financial investment, but budgets were already pressed. An industry colleague stepped forward to put Milwaukee, WI on the map and applied as a host city, for a Water Hackathon. Sponsorship was a natural fit for my employer … but they weren’t initially sold … until they were. Then, came the BIG shocker. One of Milwaukee’s Teams placed 3rd on the national stage which pitted big cities, idea generators such as those in San Francisco agains Team Milwaukee. Team Milwaukee’s winning idea and model, along with all of its sponsors … were Featured in the Smithsonian. Yes, the Smithsonian!! Small, successive waves, can create waves of big impact.
